Auto Tranny Slipping

Hi,
2003 FX4 with auto, 195K miles. Truck will not move in Drive or Reverse, but will in 1 or 2. O/D light is flashing but no OBD2 code. This happened before with a 3.0 RWD and replacing the diff speed sensor fixed it - not this time. Fluid is full, red and smells fine. Any ideas before I take it to the shop? Thanks!

Had it towed to the shop on Monday. Reverse band shot and a couple other things that I forget - dollars signs were already dancing in front of my eyes. New or reman from Ford is $3,500 including about $700 labor. Add another $100 for fluids. That's not much less than the truck is worth, so not an option.
Taking a chance with a boneyard unit. 6 month parts guarantee but I pay extra labor if it's no good. All in cost is $1,800. Truck is clean and everything else works, so for that price I figure it owes me another 2 years of driving and I'm good

Bad news...I need to replace or repair.

I drive 100,000 miles a year....

I am going with one from Autozone...It's $1700 and I have to get someone to install it but it has a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty...

not happy...Thank you for the insight...

Sounds like a very good price. Figure about $800 in labor; $125 in oil, bits & pieces - at least that's what I paid. Ford wanted $3,500 for a new/re-man. Truck is getting a little frayed around the edges, so I took a chance on a boneyard unit. Six month parts only guarantee, but I drove it home for $1,900. I figure if it gives me another two good years we're even and it'll be time for a new truck anyway. So far, so good
