Early Bronco Dana 44 Question

Early Bronco Dana 44 Question

Friday im guna talk to my buddy and see how much he wants for one or two of them.

Questions

1. Are all the axles in the from 66-77 all Dana 44 in the front.

2. Can i swap to disc brakes?

2. Yes


Break is to bust something, from one piece to two pieces.
Brake is the component of a vehicle in which slows the vehicle down using friction and heat.

axle tube diameter, pumpkin size, axle tag, brakes, balljoints, axle shafts, bolts on the pumpkin

thought of another question

what year axle would i need to get the brakes off of?

they make disc conversion kits....OR...you can swap chevy or jeep or even ford outers on to it.

i think like 72 and up has disks but i could b wrong. i no our 68 doesnt have them and my dad talks about a couple of years later and it would have disks. it might be 74 and up. i dont know

actually, heat counteracts the slowing process

it does't show me the difference between an 8" and 9"... what do i do????

could i get the outers off a newer bronco and make them work for the dics brakes?

probably not.....TTB vs solid axle. The brake components MIGHT bolt to 76-79 Ford D44 knuckles, but I havn't a clue.

thats what i meant Shane sry i was more spec like off another sold axle 44 just a wider one like out of a bronco or something

well...you said newer model.....and.......D44 solid axles havn't been in a bronco/150/250 since 79....

A Solid axle D44 is a D44, meaning that any complete D44 outers will work on that axle. You just have to figure out what bolt pattern you want. 5,6 or 8 lug. Im sure there is a mix match of parts you could use to convert to disks but it would most likely be alot easier to just rob everything from the knuckles out off another axle (including stub shaft).

what about those TTB 44's? are you able to use brakes off of them? that's what i was sorta referring to there.

you probably cound with some fabrication and a big hammer but i think that they were disks in 76 on up

Thats what i was thinking so i will just get another axle to out of bronco or something that is a solid axle and take everything off of it.
