Tranny Help

Ok, so i was on the way home a couple days ago sitting at a stop light. It turns green and i press the gas to go, i hear a loud clank then high revs. I know it has to do with my tranny somehow gettin screwed up, but the reverse still works. im at college now and the truck sitting in my driveway at home. So what may be busted and how much might it cost?

I guarantee:

1. your broke your clutch packs
2. you got water in it
3. you need it completely rebuilt

Want to know how I know?

Mine did the SAME EXACT thing when mine blew. You probably got water in the transmission vent "line" and the ATF holds water, so you got the *paper* clutch packs wet and basically disintegrated (sp) them.

That really sucks, but I have to say I told you to put on vent extensions.

From the look of your stuck pics, you were WAY above the stock 'vent' (it's really just a 'cap' if you look at it. Water definetly got in. It took mine 3 days before it blew...I didn't know a damn thing.

Might as well go to the corner store, pick up some KY, get towed to a tranny shop, lube up and bend over because thats what happened to me. I got raped for the tune of $2200. I wouldn't expect much less unless you have serious connections.

Sorry to be a pp head :)

learn my lesson, buy a used one and bring it to a shop for them to install if you can't do it yourself.

look on ebay for a 4r44e

I'd rather do a 4x4 swap than a 5spd swap.

With that swap you have to do all the PCM stuff...not for me. I don't like electrical.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-3L-...spagenameZWDVW

You'll be set with that one.

I can't see a shop charging more than 2hrs labor to install, it's not all that hard. It's a lot better than having it re-built

that was just so you could get an idea on what to get

Just look for a 4r44e, they are all over the place.

Might as well do a 4x4 swap and get a 4x4 4r44e tranny and a b2 transfer case and shorter DS. Then you can work ont he front whenever you want

Damn, thats bad.

It's going to be about 1k after all is said and done. You could have avoided it with $10 from home depot (tranny vent extension)

Warranty, typically. Also a rebuild should have tsbs done to it and such.
