more like i should convert to D44 axle...

does anyone have a guess as to how much a set of custom CV shafts would run?
possibly a stronger metal too...

yea, your issue is not having the spacers... the cv is slightly overextending getting it into a bind when you turn and from there it just goes POP. Have you contacted RCD about not being able to install the spacers and still use the snap ring?

that was my problem the last 2 times it broke but this time it was because of the locker

The only way your locker could've done this is if it is intalled wrong or if something is broken or if your t-case was in 4wd causing the locker to not unlock and allow the front to differentiate.

this is the FIRST time i have broke a CV shaft BECAUSE of the locker...

i have a new set of AVM hubs in my truck that should at this rate.. last me another year haha

once i have those on, i shouldn't break another CV shaft for a while

hey jackass, I have read through the whole thread, and I just did again, and nowhere in it do you say that yes you installed the locker wrong and know it and admit it. It sounds silly to be complaining about the weakness of cv shafts when you are driving around with basically a welded front diff because you installed a simple locker unit wrong.

Even with a D44 with 760 joints if you drive around with a welded front diff and locked hubs on pavement you are going to either blow apart the 760 joint, or more likely if you dont blow the hub off the spindle you will sheer the axle shaft at the neck down before the splines at the diff.

dumbass

1) i had no choice, if you dont have some kind of hub in there then the plastic snap ring that holds the cv shaft in can break, or just let the CV shaft go, then i have other problems

so that leaves

2) i wont be driving around with a welded D44 with the hubs locked in a dry pavement..

i'll be running an ARB up front so i wont have that problem.

besides, like i have said, i have NEVER broke one offroad BECAUSE of the locker... the stronger CV shafts would also be lengthened to keep them from over extending. and i know that in the same situation a stronger cv shaft would still break
