2003 ranger fx4 clunk fix? driveshaft question
I was wondering if this is the split in the driveshaft that occasionally needs to be greased? I read a couple tutorials, but they all look different from mine. I have a weird clunk when i take off and when i come to a stop. Can i just pop off the little clamp and pull the driveshaft apart?
Thanks!

That looks like an aluminum driveshaft. It appears different than the driveshaft on my Ranger. That does look like the slip joint that needs to be lubed. You can't take it apart without at least disconnecting one end of the driveshaft (usually the rear). You will also need to remove one of those band clamps to get to the slip joint.
Make sure you use a high quality Teflon grease. I used one that has both Teflon and Moly. It has been working great since I relubed it about 1.5 years ago.
