will 4.10s work ?
Ok some late nigt thinking has developed some questions about my truck build up project ...
Ok 98 2WD 2.5 4CYL auto single cab 7.5" runing 4.10 ok my plan to put a 3"inch lift on the truck my Q/A is will i be able to run 32x11.50R15's with 4.10s and it still have get up and go ? Or should I upgrade the gears to 4.56 ? Or even bigger ? The reason is this is my DD so it can't be a dog on the highway ... Thanks again guys an galls none of this project would be possible with out ya'lls help and suport .... |
get 4.56s there great with 32x11.5x15 that is what i had on my other ranger

4.10's are fine for 32's on my 4.0 but I don't know they might dog you down with your 2.3 I would say get your lift and tires that you want, drive it around about a week with 4.10's and make your decision.

I'd run a 4.56 to get you rolling a lil better.

You'll be fine. I've got 3.73s with 33x12.5's and a 4.0 OHV. It's not going to win any races, but it's not a dog either. Just keep the 3.0 running clean and you'll be fine with 4.10's IMO.

You're probably gonna want at least 4.56s. My truck had NO go on the highway. 3.0 with 35s and 4.10s. I regeared to 4.88s and its like a whole new truck. City probably won't be bad with stock gears, but for the highway I think you're probably gonna run out of gear at 65 or 70 especially since you're an auto. Like said above though, you can do the lift and tires, run it for a little while and then make you're decision. Installing new gears isn't the simplest process out there, so that usually makes it a costly upgrade(unless you happen to know the right people)

With the 2.5 I guess, it might be good to go up to a 4.56 with the auto. Would definitely help turn the bigger tires. |
thats what i was afraid of . But i kinda planed for it in the budget so it works thanks again .

4.56! 4.10 will seem like slow motion.

I say 4.56 at minimum. I have a 4.0 with 4.10s and I am even thinking of going with 4.56s
|
yea, if you had a 5-speed it wouldnt be too bad as im running 31s with 4.10s on my tired old 2.3 and it's pretty decent, but with the auto you lose a TON of power compared to the 5-speed so I would say go with 4.56s or if you plan to go larger in tires then maybe even look into going deeper in gears than that so you only have to regear once. Also with the 3" lift you may find that you can comfortably run 33s in which case you will definitly want 4.56s. Hell if I end up with 35s like I'm thinking I'm gonna go for 5.13s...
