My father in law has an 87 ranger 4x4. I guess he is new to 4x4 and changed out the back tires but not the front. He drove it a few miles and pop. So what now.



I looked on autozone orielly's and advance websites for a slip yoke to no avail. Is there some thing else that this is called. Would be nice to have this fixed by the time the snow hits tomorrow night. BTW I would suggest he join this site, but I don't think he knows how to turn a computer on.

 

prolly gonna have to go to a driveshaft shop. when i snapped my rear yoke in my 90 thats the only place i could get one.

is that yoke part of the driveshaft? I'm not familiar with that part. if it is, maybe you could get the whole driveshaft assembly from a junkyard. you're talking about a 24 year old truck here, so maybe it's not super important to have new parts.

 

The yoke is on the rear of the driveshaft. He checked a few salvages today without any luck. If he can't find one tomorrow morning I think he is going to go to a drivetrain shop.

 

He went to a drive shaft shop in Tulsa. New yoke and u-joint cost $75 in case anyone is needing one. Got it put together and put the other 30's on it. He won't make that mistake again.

 

Just goes to show that no matter your age , there is always a learning curve.






And I'm considered an old guy.
