3.0, manual transmission, transfer case

Long story short, I bought a 1987 Ranger, PO said the original 2.9 grenaded so his son got this complete setup for it. It's a 3.0, manual transmission, and transfer case. It was sat in the truck but never wired up, probably because he realized it wasn't the right motor. I CANNOT attest that it runs, but I was told when he bought it, it ran. I'm unsure of mileage, and really just need it out of my way.

I'll start with $400. In my opinion, the transmission and transfer case are worth that, if you want to chalk the engine up to being a core.

Comes with exhaust manifolds, intake, pretty much everything except the shifter and wiring/ecu.

Located in Hartwell, Georgia.

2004 M5R1 Transmission update from early models! Damn!!!

Okay, so i'm rebuilding my transmission. I can't find parts for my 2004 because it is different than early models. For instance the synchros are different, and I got a message from an ebay dealer that the shafts and gears assembly are completely different. So most parts are from early models. Anybody know anyone that I can relate this too to get some information on how to proceed would be great. My input shaft is broke, and so are gear teeth on the cluster, and the input shaft bearing is toast. Everything else looks great for the 270k miles it has on it. I wanted to do the synchros and bearings, but can't find a kit specifically for a 2004.

What engine is it for?

Yes, there was a change in 2001

Count the teeth on the gears

The M5R1 was a reliable trans but when it did have a problem it was usually what you describe, input shaft gear and counter shaft(cluster) gear stripping

It works, the URL, I pasted it and it don't. I didn't know it was hot from your link. I need the bearing that goes on the input shaft where the gear broke off. It's 124 I think. But there is no 124 on the list. Funny, see this transmission rebuild is cursed lol

Yeah, so I would love to replace the brass synchros, as the gears look fine. But the one I have has "multi piece," instead of the original whatever they are -- single piece? Don't make no sense, I thought synchros were all several pieces. Another seller told me about synthetic parts something or other about the synchros. It's a real mess to figure out for the first time.
