engine swap

i have a 97 ranger, 3.0 and 06 ranger 3.0 ,can i just swap?

It depends, if one is flex fuel or not.
The injectors for the flex fuel are different from the regular fuel.
You may have to change them out.

Synchronizer sensor may different _ 2 or 3 wire.
If they are, the whole synchronizer will have to be switched out, but this can be done because the blocks are the same.

The 06 will probably have a plastic intake manifold, so things may not be in exactly the same position, so be prepared for that.
The plastic upper intake is supposed to breath better.

However if your 97 has the EGR equipment and the 06 doesn't, you will have to use the aluminum manifold.
The PCM will look for an EGR system that may not be there on the 06.

And off course the lower intake manifold will have to be changes out then because the aluminum won't mate up with the one that was meant for the plastic one.
