Rear axle 7.5" 4.10 gears for 1999 Ranger
I'm pretty sure my rear gears grenaded themselves due to lack of maintenance. I think replacing the axle will be the easiest way to fix this. I'm located in Boston so hopefully you're not too far away. Let me know your price.

If you are replacing the axle already you should upgrade to an 8.8 axle. Lots of them come with 4.10s and limited slips. You can also put in an explorer axle which is an 8.8 with disc brakes. You won't be spending anymore so might as well upgrade. It's hard to grenade an 8.8

Thanks for the info. I saw some 8.8 axles listed here so I'll look into those too!

Keep in mind with the explorer axle they have the leaf springs under the axle.. and rangers have them above, so if you get an explorer axle you will need to have new spring perches and shock tabs welded on.

go to car-part.com and sort by distance
there are tons of ranger axles around in MA |
Is there a guide or an easy way to check what size brakes I have/need? Or should both 9" and 10" brakes fit?
