Rear end

I'm looking for a 8.8 rear end that will fit my 02 ranger 2wd. need to have 4.10 gear and disk brakes. reply with price

car-part.com sort by distance. you'll want a 98ish explorer axle if you want disc. all rangers have drum brakes until its last year in production which is 2011 when they finally went disc rear

are the mounting brackets for my stock shocks and springs the same? also what is the difference in width (how much widder will my tires stick out)?

You'll have to cut and weld the shock tabs on an explorer axle to accommodate for ranger shocks but it'll be the cheapest way of upgrading to an 8.8 with 4.10 limited slip, 31 spline, and disc all in one shot.

The width is the same.

what about the leaf springs?

or you can take the easier route, find a ranger rear end with 4.10s and add your own disk brakes from a mustang. very simple swap and doesnt require welding. although the explorer axles are much stronger.

Actually 2010 is when they went disc brakes.

But I'll agree with everyone else the explorer axle is the way to go. I went that way and am very glad I did. If you can't do the welding yourself, find a reputable shop around you that can. There's a guy here that does it daily and I brought him the axle and he welded the shock mounts, flipped the leaf spring flanges and welded the tubes for $100.
