Willing to trade off my perfect operating 5 speed Manual in my 94 for a Good working c3 or c5 transmission if its a c5 must be the 2.3L 4cylinder c5 I will cover shipping .
Will also buy the c3 or c5 from early 2.3L ranger for cash rebuildable or working floor shifter would be nice to add in.
this manual trans will fit on a 1983 to 2001 Ranger with 2.0l, 2.3l or 2.5l SOHC Lima engine

Manual trans from a 1994 Ranger will be an M5OD-R1(M5R1), these do not have detachable bell housings so are engine specific
So engine it comes from is a 2.3l??
And 2WD?

If so then this manual trans will fit on a 1983 to 2001 Ranger with 2.0l, 2.3l or 2.5l SOHC Lima engine
Not the 2.3l DOHC Duratec engine, 2001 to 2012 or the 2.3l Diesel

might I even ask in my scenario of changing to automatic either using c3 or c5 do I need to seek a specific c3 or c5 that would be particular for my 94 2.3 lima ? I believe I correctly understand that the c5 was a rare option but available for the 4 cyl 2.3 in 1983-1985 . Assuming this would be a hard find . Like mentioned before if I keep the 2.3 I don't wanna deal with any electronic changes just remain hydraulic Operated I would just leave the lockup aspect obsolete I believe the c5 lockup is ram by a wire and relay setup but not necessary to use the lockup aspect . I'm not having luck with finding a c5 or c3 aside from a 780$ price online

 

The C3 was used on 2WD Rangers in '83/'84, the C5 was only used on 4x4 Rangers in '83/'84, some 1985

You would have better luck looking at Mustang forums, 1974–1986 Mustangs used the 2.3l Lima engine and C3 transmissions
They wouldn't want to trade since the M5R1 has shifter in the wrong place but you can still sell it and then use that money for a C3

Pinto's also used the C3 with 2.3l engines, 1974 to 1980

 

Wanted verify I found a lead on a working pulled c3 from a 1980 Fairmont that's connected to the original 1980 2.3l in the Fairmont. Being a Lima block in 80 what year 2.3 do I have to stick with to use that particular c3
