How To: Air Silencer Removal

So you want to remove some pesky restrictions on the intake side of your engine, but the idea of taking a hacksaw to your truck doesn't do it for you? Follow along with these fool-proof instructions!

Warning: No harm can come from this Mod. Some dealerships will try to fault any mod as a reason to deny warranty service, but this mod is not only hard to spot, but its completely reversible if you have second thoughts.

Tools Required:
-WD40
-Your hands

Start by following the instructions in your owners manual to remove the air filter. Picture one picks up from there:

It will take a good bit of tugging to break this loose the first time. Make sure it doesn't catch on any hoses or wires in the area.

It will take some wiggling around to get the bottom tabs to engage their holes. Again be sure not to catch any hoses or wires underneath the box as you push it back in!

Hope this was helpful. Thanks to MRC for taking the digital pictures (and for hooking me up with a free K&N!)

thanx for the write up! It took me like 5 mins to complete! I haven't noticed any performance increase, but it did give my truck a nice growl when I open it up.

Yeah I've been trying but its got a nice growl so i can't help it to some extent, shouldn't I get better mileage for normal driving though?
