How To: Replace EGR valve on 2.3l engine

How To: Replace EGR valve on 2.3l engine
Required tools:
Socket's (assorted ones)
Wrench's
Flat head screwdriver
PB Blaster (optional but very helpful)
Patience!
Required parts:
New EGR valve
Start by getting all the tools you'll need together.
This is the egr valve we will be replacing.
Start by spraying PB blaster onto these bolts to loosen them up. Then when they are loose, remove them.
Now remove the top portion of the air intake so you can get down to the headers easier.
Next remove the egr sensor deal. (the big metal square thing with wires coming out). Then tuck it away.
A picture of it removed.
Then you're going to remove the whole pipe connecting the header to the valve. Here's a picture of the part connected to the header.
Once you get the pipe unscrewed from the header, pull the pipe and valve from the truck. Then you can disconnect the egr valve from the pipe.
Now put the new valve on and put it all back together by reversing the steps that you took to get here.
Finally! You're new valve should be installed and will make everything work like it should (well maybe not everything)

Egr late 2001 2.3
Well I never recieve an answer. Ended up just putting some silicone on the gasket. So far so good. Not much out there on the replacement on this style egr. Very hard to access this style egr valve. I torqued it to spec, tried a little tighter, also loosened it up. It still leaked. This is on a 2001 2.3 ranger. Which has the egr on the back of the head. Hopefully someone out there knows some tricks. I would love to learn them. Personally I pulled the transmission.
