ahh don't you love the CB antenna question? Ok, real quick, short of mounting them on a toolbox, Is there any others way I could get an antenna behind the cab, say mounted on the inside of the bed? I might be able to come up with some sort of custom bracket but wanted to see if you guys had any thoughts.

 

I mounted mine outside the bed between the bed and the cab. Simple "L" shaped bracket did it. Was a PITA to install because of the lack of space.
Suggestion, mount the antenna to the bracket first. Then install the nuts, bolts through the bed. A friend in the bed using a ratchet while you
hold the nut with a box would probably make things easier. I mounted the antenna that way because I have a hard tonneau cover on my truck.
If you don't and want to mount the bracket inside the bed that should make it easier.

I used a piece of angle iron and mounted mine between the cab and my tool box. I just drilled two holes in the front of the bed and two in my angle iron, bolted it on, then drilled another hole for the antenna. I put the mount down far enough that the tool box could be as far forward as possible, the bed goes in a little bit where I put it.

 

i only use a c.b. when im on a trip. i have a short magnetic mount antenna that i just run through the rear slider window and slap on the top of the roof. i take it out when its not needed, had one c.b. stolen once, never again.

 

Do you have a local CB shop around town? Check out what they have they should have several differant brackets available. I have a stake hole mounting bracket that just mounts through the stake hole in the bed-but thats off to the side of the bed and I think you wanted between the cab and the bed-but it puts the antenna out of the way and away from a cover and should be clear of a toolbox.

A mirror bracket mounted on the inside of the front bed panel.....similar to how i have mine mounted to my tool box....

 

I had mine mounted like Fx4wannabe01 when I had a toolbox. Now I have one of Alon's antenna brackets, only complaint is it got rusty quick.

I have my antenna mounted like FX4's on the toolbox that is my current winter project. Need to figure out where my Radio is going to go though. But if you don't want permanent mount go with a magnetic antenna and put it up when you need it. Otherwise if you look on I think it is Wilson CB website and you have stake pockets they have mounts that slide into the stake pockets. Just some more ideas for you or the Alon on bracket is another option.

Not to go to far off the original topic-but I keep hearing everybody talk about how great alons brackets are-dont they mount to the tail light or in that general area, how good is the reception because from what ive heard the back of the truck in that area his brackets go is the worst place to mount an antenna. Just curious as to how good the reception is, im not trying to knock his brackets because they do look good-just curious
