01 TO 03 use different grills and header panels and hoods as the 04+, If you want an 04+ front end you need a new header panel, grill, hood, lights, turn signal lights and all the little needs of bolts and stuff to get it all together. (should come with the body parts but trying to get the head light holder or the clips to hold them in can be a tough task.) I am pretty sure a 98+ fenders will work with the 01+ front end and the way the turn signals are but I'm not 100% sure. IMO go with the 01-03 front end and get the powerdome hood. But if you like the 06+ grills the 04-05 are the same setup as the 06+ I have an 04 Ranger and swapped out for the one piece grill. But I kinda want to get a powerdome and swap to a 01-03 front end but its something that I am pondering.

FRXLT has it on the dot. The biggest thing you will need is the hood, the other stuff isn't too expensive. You'll need the bumper and valance as well to get the full swap

Well how many miles are on your engine now. Can you keep it running strong for another X amount of miles? An engine swap can be a big task, but if you have the know how and the tools then go for it. But I know it will take you more then just a day to do it. Also includes some research to make sure everything is wired up and running good. Does your state have emissions? Do you have to get your vehicle re-inspected and certified to legally have that engine in the ranger? I know here in CA it would be harder to do a swap since the fact there is annual 2 year smog check and emissions testing. So a V8 ranger that is registered on paper as V4 would be illegal. You have to do so much bs to get it to be legal. Anyways out way your options and see what your funds and knowledge is able to let you do. I say got for the 01-03 swap first and tell us your out come if you plan on doing it.
