generally..'prerunner light bar' or 'prerunner bar'. Fabtech makes one. There's other brands, but i'm unware of them.

The blue truck is mine. Its and ORI brand light bar.

The install is really simple. Its a matter of drilling some holes and bolting it up.

i would want to use it for more of a, ( very light) brush guard. yay or nay to this use? is it sturdy? hold up to just a little abuse? or strictly for lights?

while mine isnt the style youre looking for, you can plow through anything with it, push cars/vans with it, be pulled out by it and mount lights to it. its a warn trans4mer, you can also get a front reciever or winch mount for it. (goes between the uprights) plenty of pics in my cardomain or if you wish i'll post some pics from my photobucket tommarrow, im a bit tired and ready to call it a day right now.

I would say no for using it for anything other then a light bar. Its really sturdy but the way its mounts isnt made for pushing things.

There is this one too, at Summit I had one on my '96 it was pretty sturdy but definitely not for pushing.

ahh i see. thanks guys. i want something for light pusing. just loking around though. im thinking i might be able to get a little, coustom made brush gaurd weled to the front bumper, cause the bumper i got is some kind of metal. (anyone know what kind?) is it even possible to weld to that thing? not looking to spend that much money on it. dont really want it that bad. just think it would look cool, and serve a little purpous for getting through small brances in woded areas

Sure it'll hold up...just don't know how well the bumper it's attached to and the surrounding plastic parts would hold up to it.

bumper has held up pretty good so far just has a little stress mark on lower valance smaller than a dime where it was pushed (hard like 45 mph through 24 inches of snow) into the steel behind it.

im just not sure if i want to drill two holes in the top of my bumper to mount the ORI bar...how does the fabtech one mount? do those brackets go behind the bumper into the frame?

The ORI baja bars are bolt able you don't kneed a welder. The top mounts have bushings in them so I would think they can take a little abuse. All ORI baja bars are vehicle specific. Similar in price. And made to order. Offroadwarehouse.com sells the 2002 ranger baja eliminator is $169.99. Go there and type in your truck. There may be more options. The eliminator has a video available right before purchase that showers it being installed on an E-series van.
