New headlights

Looking to change the appearance of my 98 Ranger and wanted to replace the headlights as part of that. Anywhere I should look to see a good selection?

Thanks, Grizz.

You could check www.stylinconcepts.com and see if they have anything for the 98's. Ebay would be good too just make sure the feedback in really close to 100%

My truck is Toreador Red, with some black accenting with bed rails, and other molding. It's a Splash so the bumper is also painted and I have the factory running boards also in the T-red with the black molding on them.

Do you have the link you were looking at specifically? Would T-Red be a good color to go with the blackouts?

Yea I think it would look good, has a decent contrast and since you already have some black it would add to it...are you more offroad or more street?

here are the corners in black:

Justin - All street. Here's a complete set that doesn't look to bad...looks a lot like the halo.

Justin - I am ok with some things but figuring out how to post a picture is not one of them. I can take some shots and send them to you, if you want to post. It's a completely stock extended cab Splash, 2 WD. I have not changed one thing since I bought it original in December 1997. I figured with this being her 10 birthday coming up, she was due a little face lift.

hmm...you can really go either way...black or clear...what are the future plans for it? wheels? and other trim features or maybe painting pieces?

Future plans involve the head and tail lights, the more I look, the more I like the smoked version vs. clear. My windows are tinted so that may look more consistent. Quick question, for the tails. They sell two different sets on the market. Those for the xl/xlt and then those that are not for the XL/XLT. Which application will fit mine?

Also planning on going to a dual exhaust(3.0 v6) and it sounds like the flowmaster 40 series might be the way to go. The roof of the truck has some clear coat lift off around the 3rd brake light. And yes, rims and tires. I like the Cobra 5 Star Bullets in chrome. I don't want to lift or drop the vehicle, but I'd like to get a larger rim than these 15" to fill out those wheel wells a little. The Splash stock runs a 15 inch rim with 60's I am wondering if going to 17" rims with 45 or 50's would do the trick?

The other items not as important on my list would be to remove the bed liner and go with a spray in liner in toreador red. Redo the bed rails in either chrome or black chrome, not sure. Finally, I may do a grill guard, but I think probably not. I am guessing about $3,000 over the next year, if I do it all.

What parts (pieces) to paint were you thinking or were you talking about the body?

nevermind about the paintuing trim pieces, since your entire truck already has the more commonly painted items painted already...i just failed to notice...

for the tail lights...tail lights are tail lights...you should do a search on here...i remember reading stepsides required some trimming i believe on some of the after market tail lights...but i cant remember for sure...

with the black headlights i would check out the black cobra rims as well...17" sounds good. and if you get the bed rails go with the black chrome just to tie everything in together. grill guard i would go against just cause you have the street look going...but that colored bed liner will be sweet...havent seen too many people with the colored spray ins...

Justin/Crawly - Thanks and thanks. I am going to search on those tail lights just a little more, since they offer them in two sizes - xl/xlt and "won't fit" xl/xlt...that's got to mean something. I am not quite ready to go all black, and am kind of partial to the chrome rims, and the black chrome bed rails will be the way I lean also.

Got an estimate tonight on repainting my roof. $374 to repaint and clear coat, and another $200 to redo the front bumper which is stone chipped up. The rest of the body is in excellent shape. I am going to wait to paint until after the love bug season is over. We get them twice a year and they're real pissers. They come in clouds and you have to wash them off within 24 hours or they eat your finish. Not bad on the older established paint, but on the new paint, no way.

I'll keep you in pictures as I progress. Going to start with the headlights and tail lights.

Sounds good...but i dont see how they have fit and dont fit issue between the trim levels...there is no difference in the tail lights...weird...the only ones i can see being a problem are the new STXs since they have the mazda bed on them...

Brad - I think I have narrowed on my choice of head lights. Where I am a little confused is the tail lights which comes in different options of expected fit. You have a thought on the tails?

Alright, just did the search and saw the same lights I am already looking at with a choice of clear halo bulb or blue? What throws the most light? The blues look pretty cool when I've seen other vehicles with them. Choices and decisions, oh boy!

Thanks.
