2 more tint Q's and I'm done

Sorry about posting more tint questions, but I need opinions on if I should get 5% or 2.5 % on the three rear windows. I'm not really worried about seeing out the windows at night, but will I be able to see out them during the day? I'm only going 35% on the front two windows so those arent a problem. Also, do tint companies charge you more the darker you go or is it all one price? I know it all probably depends where you go, but I would like to know from you. Thanks.

a lot of times its one price, unless you are gettin an illegal % done, then they will charge you more and often dont honor the normal warentee on it, and personally i would not go that dark, but thats me and im not a big fan of the look of 2 different darknesses on the windows, i would do like 20 maybe, or 20 on the front 2 then go darker on back

The place I went to was charging the same no matter how dark you went. I got 5% on the rear 3, and it is plenty dark for me.

most likely I will go with 5%. I just wanted it where you try to look through the windows and can't see anything, but I'm kind of over that now. Thanks

damn 2.5%? darkest i've EVER seen is 5% which is usually classified as standard limo tint. 2.5%... might as well paint your windows black hehe.

Thanks for all the opinions. I'm still going to stick with 5% in the back and 35% on the fronts. I use my mirrors the most anyways and I have my subs and amp in the back that I don't want to get ripped off.

not sure what limo is but i have it on all rear windows and it works. i can see fine during the day but at night, it is crazy dark. i can still see emergency vehicles and lightbars from far away so it works. i got mine all for the same price as if it were 35%. should be fine

If your not driving at night then 5% is perfect for the back windows makes you truck seem like a cave, but its not problem to see out of. I have 5% on my front windows just because you can stare at all the other people looking at your ride and they have no idea. As for tint comapnies the ones who did mine just said pay cash and its no problem because it is illegal and last time I checked the ticket ran you about $180 out of pocket. Also, I would recommend the 1 inch strip the put across the top of your front windshield, not only does it make the truck look mean, but also helps when you drive during the day time because the sun doesnt touch your eyes a bit. And when you get it keep in mind that your windows cant be rolled down for a good 3 days so everything cures properly. Hope this advice works.

My driver and passenger windows are 13%, and they are fine at night. Factory tint on the rear, and 13% on the rear window of the canopy, seems perfect. I would go with 5% on the rear 3 for sure.

I've got 5% on my back three windows and 22% on the side...and i love it, the 5% is way dark enough but I cant see out the back at all at night, but i just open the sliding back glass to see better, much recommended on the 5%!

I had 20% on my old dakota and thought that was too dark. It was tough to see out of at dusk...when it was full night, you could see headlights, but it was right at that point where no one had their headlights on that it was dangerous.

Thats exactly what i have on mine (35 front 5 back) and if i got a new truck id do the same again. With my sound system i had the same concerns as ya and the tint does a good job on hiding the subs. And they shouldn’t charge you more, they charge the same price for all tints the difference in prices comes by what "quality" tint you pick and how many windows you have.

browse around my pics and it may give u an idea of what it loks like. or hell i say we should have a little food mini-meet with all you MV guys, since you were all too cool to goto the meet

That tint looks sick on your truck. I'll definitely go with those numbers. My truck is dark shadow gray with I think your old tonneau cover on it I bought from Justin. Was that yours?

This thread ain't too old, so I'll dig it up.

I have a question about the supercab rear side windows. You know how they have a small border of like little black dots?

Well there's a local tint guy that I went to school with, and my friend had his car done by him. But this tint guy cant get the tint to stickbetween the dots things around the edge. So it kind looks like there are bubbles in the tint. Would a professional place have the ability to do tint and fill the gaps between the bubbles? Cause I don't want those bubbles on my car.

Oh cool. Would a razor blade work too? Cause the guy I wanna use is a lot cheaper than any pro place around. If I could just take the dots off myself I'd save a lot of money cause my car only has 2 windows that would need to have them removed.

I tried that on my escort when i had it and was stupid the answer is no lol..

here is a few tint sites on it

http://www.tintdude.com/dot-matrix.html

there is 10 pages on different ways to take care of it there have fun reading

I have witnessed wet sanding with 1200 grit before it worked well its not so much removing all of them but making the height of them a lot lower, thus stopping the "white band of death" that you get...

How do you wet sand? Just buy the high grit paper and get it wet or what? Is it something I could do myself?
