2000 to 2004 Front End Conversion

So. I understand that this question has been asked a million times. I know the parts needed, all that. I understand that I need the metal powerdome hood, not the fiberglass one. I know many, many people have done the 98-00 to 01-03 swap, but can anyone give me any tips on the 04 swap? Anything I need to watch for when doing the swap?

Edit: I just searched the forum, found one thread concerning this, and it talked about new hood release parts. Anyone know anything more about this?

Generally, when in doubt, swap it out. Ford started their rampage of changing absolutely everything in 2004, but these parts shouldn't be all that wildly different.

The only tip I can really give is on the donor truck for the hood and hood latch, measure where the hoodlatch is on the truck, and write down those numbers. Match those numbers on your truck and you should be very close to proper alignment, if not dead on.

The 2000 latch will likely work, although I cannot for positive say one way or another, but if you're going to be there, I would take the hood latch anyway.

The only other thing that may give you trouble, and I'm not entirely sure how, is the radiator core support. I've seen it mentioned in many swap threads, never really gave all that much attention to it, but that may be something you should read up on. The shroud behind the grille directing air into the radiator may also have to be removed.

Hopefully my somewhat vague 'assistance' lends some light to your question.
