ive got a 2000 xlt and i just ordered some new 07+ tails for the rear because i really love the look anyone have any suggestions for a nice matching nonricey 3rd taillight replacement or mod i can do to match the tails... also will be doing a full decal swap to the newer models aswell

 

My suggestion is get an LED Type, clear or smoked, with cargo lights but turn the cargo lights into directionals. (Not my idea but from the site and I think it looks good)
You would need to pickup the turn signal wires from under the driver’s seat but not more than a multimeter and probe and get some light sockets from an Auto Parts Store.

you can just get some nightshade and lightly smoke the 3rd brake light. I did mine. a lot of people say bad things about people who use nightshade, but its nice on the 3rd brake light, the finish isn't as important anyway.

 

 

i got the 07+ lights in just wanted to show em off a little i really love how the reverse is clear lense and i really want something like that for the cab lights on the 3rd brake light do you have anything like that buggman?

 

I have an LED, Clear Lens Unit with thte Cargo Lights converted to Directionals; although not my original idea.

So the Clear Cargo Lights are out there, don’t ask, I don’t remember where I got it.

Hmmmmm, I've never seen a clear cargo light... unless it's an aftermarket part similar to those "cheap-o" evilBay led 3rdBL's.

My cargo light 3rdBL's aren't completely clear, but you can see inside the lens a little. I wet sand & buff every 3rdBL to near perfection before I start the led mods.

 

Sorry guys mine is smoked… but almost clear.
RED LEDs in the Brake Light and Amber high output incandesent bulbs in the cargo section.

Not OEM but not e-bay either… one of the truck supply joints.

 

You could buy a all clear LED third brake light off ebay and candy red it

 

I'd like to see that bad boy.... sounds interesting.
