If it's not too much trouble could I see it with a 2-tone hood & grill surround in flat black, but still a chrome bumper?

I really like the look of how yours turned out, Sixt9, but I have DSG. I don't like the chrome on my truck but don't know if I want to mess with the bumper

Thanks, mmmtof. Did you have any problems getting the paint to adhere to that part of the bumper, or is it just a matter of standard painting procedure? Did you also have the chrome grill surround?

 

yeh i had teh chrome grill surround as well



it actually has held up better on the chrome better than any of the other pieces. I used the duplicolor spray on bed liner to paint everything. Just make sure you sand the hell out of the chrome. If I could do it again I would have used a grinder to get through the chrome a little better.

 

Very cool, thank you. It sure turned out great. How much of a texture does that spray on liner have? Is it like sand/non-skid, or more course? If I did the two-tone hood mod, how do you think that would look (the spray on liner) versus using standard flat black?

And did you spray the valance to match the chrome part of the bumper? Did it take much prep? I see some folks saying that the plastic likes to bur when sanded, and that some people just wash it real well and let it dry.

 

the only pics I have of the texture is when I painted my maglite, here is the thread for that...I do know that the bed liner works better when the cans are nice and warm and with a lot of light coats. the lighter the coats the more texture you get.

as far as the two tone on the hood I dont know what to tell you about...just do it and if u dont like the look, paint the hood to match...

yeh I painted the valance as well...it seemed to sand fine for me. just give it a good scrubbing before you paint it.
