Alignment needed after new shocks?

I just replaced the front shocks on my 2001 Ranger 2WD. These are shocks, not struts. Do I need to have the alignment checked?

No, shocks can't effect alignment, they are just dampers for the springs

Thanks, RonD.

There is an exception to this. Pressurized shocks like Bilsteins can slightly lift a vehicle. So if you go from a non-pressurized shock to a pressurized one, you might want to at least have the alignment checked.

Good info

That makes sense and I appreciate the info. That's not my situation but always good to learn...

Also, IF you do want to check the alignment, wait a while until things settle out and the shocks achieve ride height !
