no you guys need to get a hood light from a chevy tahoe, (older model, maybe like a 94 or so) they have retractable lights under the hood.

There's a black wire coming down the hood hinge on the same side as the light, as far as I know that's the wire powering the light

my hood is covered with that insulation stuff. it their a area on the hood that is molded a certain way to fit the light, if so, ill pull my insulation off and look for it.

ah, i see where it mounts now.

im going to assume mine had one before it was wrecked, then when ford fixed it they didn't put it back.

my truck was owned by ford almost its entire life before i bought it.

i bought a light and wiring today. i also pulled part of my insulation off and found nothing. the light looks like the one in these pictures. can i ground it to a metal spot on the truck and put the other wire on the positive connector of the battery cable where it connects to the fuse box with a fuse in between?

My 94 Ranger XLT had one. It had a lot of little things the newer ones don't. The rubber tailgate flaps so you couldn't see out the inside of the bed when backing up is one thing I miss.

ok, i bought a buss fuse holder and some 5 amp fuses. but the buss fuse holder wires are a little bigger than the light harness wires, is this ok?
