Anyone tried adding a pop open gas fill door?

My old cars have this and I was suprised that my truck does not. I release to open the gas door? This cannot be new to ford. And with as expensive as gas is now I would think it would almost be required. But I hate those aftermarket keyed gas caps and have way too many keys on my ring anyway. Has anyone found a donor car that is pretty close to a "bolt" on mod? Would think the only thing you would have to fab would be the latch on the body that the door would click into.

That's just not like Ford to use those.. it's usually an import automaker feature, my vw has one. My '00 ranger did not have it, my sister's '02 stang did not, friend's '97 stang did not either (his new '07 Focus doesnt have it either), nor does my mom's '05 explorer.

I know those cars fairly well and even know where one is in a junkyard. The length of cable should be there. The real issue will be the door...but I am sure that could be worked on too if need be.

The Escape forum has a "how to" for adding the remote fuel door using the Mazda Tribute parts.

Does the Mazda B have a remote door? Maybe the parts will work on the Ranger.

you DO NOT need this there is a reason. there is baffles in the fuller neck. so just try and siphon out the gas from it. you can do it but it takes a good 10 min to navigate the filler neck and its not easy thats if you know what your doing. the average.

also its really easy to brake those locking doors off imports i have had to do it when a cable broke. so there pointless
