firstly dont post if all your going to say is "get line-x or rhino liner"




what have you used that has worked out really well... my dad has hurculiner and thats held up fairly well over the past 2 years, i just wanna look around for some more...

Rustolieum kicks ass! For light duty use the stuff is great, same exact consistancy as Line-X. It is REALLY tough, but I havent fully tested it yet so I cant say for sure how it gaurds against gouges and such. But check it out.

I heard herculiner was slightly better then duplicolor, but i havnet tired it yet.... Im interested in hearing others opinions too

how much is the rustoleum? i was looking at it and it looks decent

I honestly dont know, I got it from Robin..

I have herculiner, I really like it. I think its 99 bucks for the kit? or 130 bucks for the kit. Worth it definately. It'll completely protect your bed just as good as the expensive liners.
But it can get damaged since it is thin so be careful.

my dad had herculiner in one of his trucks and if you do it right it can hold up really good we only had some parts peel off due to the claws on chain saws being drag in and out over the 2 years we had that truck. i would recommend if you dont plan to beat the crap out of your bed everyday. just make sure you get the cleaner that they recommend in the kit because it doesnt come with it.

I picked my truck up in March of 03. Sandblasted the bed, wiped it down with Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol and Rolled/brushed on teh rustoleum stuff.

I USE my truck, band equipment, ATV, have moves MANY appliances for people.. Haven't had anything flake off nor does the beds metal surfaces show at all.

The can of rubberising compound and hardners we're on sale for 50$.

It doesn't matter what ' kit ' you use, spend the time and energy and sand the bed down, make sure the surfaces are clean. If you have acess to an air compressor, I would suggest blowing it all out after you whipe it down. Its only going to work as good as the effort you put into it.

^^ thats good to hear, i wont be doing much heavy hauling exept some trees maybe from a peice of property were clearing...

its either the rustoleum or the herculerliner, because everyonce and a while samsclub has it on sale for 59$ which is when my dad got it... so if they dont have that sale by april then im gettin the rustoleum

Pep Boys has the Herculiner kit on sale for 59.98, if there is one around you.

Why not just put in a rubber mat? Theyre only about $60-$70 and will protec your bed much better. I know you dont want to hear it but there is a reason the diy stuff is $60 and line-x is closer to $400. If you are hauling trees it's going to mess it all up. I got mine sprayed with line-x a week after I got my truck and I love it. Imagine how much it would cost in the long run if you had to remove the roll on stuff.

I duplicolored my tool box (inside) and found it to be OK for light duty, but not nearly as tough as Herc.

I did the tub of my Jeep in Durabak, and I will never use it again. It's been 2 months and there are still some spots that will not cure....some of it is still soft.

I've Herculined my sliders and other stuff and that is by far the best of the DIY that's I've used. I'll probably go over my Jeep again with that.

On a side note, my truck bed is Line-Xed though!

Very true. I spent a lot of time preping my bed, probably more time in prep than actually putting it on.

yea my dad preped his for about 4 hours and his turned out well so ill prob do about the same, and well have a aircompresser shortly so ill be able to blow all the dust out of the bed...


should i take my bed bolts out and put tape in the holes? or go over the bolts... i have no plan of takin off my bed but just in case....?

I put 4 coats of herculiner on my bed and side walls, nice and thick.I use my truck to haul lumber/roof tiles/blocks ect ect and it holds up good
