what is this thing? flat piece with two nuts on it.

so i installed my hood light tabs today, had to pull the fender away to do so which meant undoing the bolts. all went well btw, picture of tabs below.

anyways, while i was under there, i noticed this litle piece. its flat metal, with nuts on either end of it. nothing attatched to it, simply loose in this spot. cant get it out no matter which way i turn it either.

any idea what it is?

(can only see one nut in the pics, but the other one is there lol)

and for perspective on where it is

oh yeah, and here is my hood light tabs.

Probably a running board mounting bracket. You more than likely won't be able to remove the nuts, they're typically welded to the flat piece of steel that joins them together

hey, ive done that to a lot of parts on my truck lol.

my rear facing lights, hmm how can i mount these? ---- it drill the bed rails LOL

its just a truck, right?

if i had an easy way to access the underside of the big canvas of metal between the hood and windshield i woulda just drilled into there and bolted the lights down haha.

ive got so many self tapping screws holding various pieces on its not even funny. but you know what? it works lol.
and you cant see any of em so who cares.

flares loose? meh, screw em on! they wont come loose anymore lol.

yeah, those are brackets for running boards. you pop up the trim on the floor and pull back the carpet, if I remember right they're in the hole with the body mount bolt under the oval shaped rubber grommet piece. you can pull them out easily that way.

Those pieces are a weird shape that only come out a certain way. It's easy to do, though. Especially if you don't use penetrating spray and snap the studs off in removing the steps.

I'm not worried about removing the brackets/studs. My running boards came off easily as well. They're somewhere in the dump now anyway lol

Lol. Mine are in a huge tote next to my garage waiting for the next scrap run. Pieces of my truck make me money to buy more pieces for my truck.

IMO, scrap metal is like a penny jar. Normally, it's almost worthless to save, but when you get A LOT of pennies, it becomes almost worth it!
