better headlights for the '98-'00 ranger? are there any other options?

the factory headlights on my '99 ranger SUCK. what other options do i have? are there any aftermarket headlights that give better light? can i run brighter bulbs w/o melting things?
i have had alot of volkswagens and what i usually do on them is run e-code lights...or NON-DOT lights.. the lights they came with in europe.. they have a way better beam pattern and light output than the DOT ones.

unfortuantely the ranger was never sold in europe (to my knowlege!) and there are no e-code headlights avail. for it.. so what do you to get better light output with the crappy DOT headlights, or are there any aftermarket ones that are better??

thanks!

Ebay, your euro lights can be found there. Among other sites on the net.

If you run higher output bulbs, if the wattage is higher run a new harness for them.

People have modded HIDS, into these euro lights. As with all plastic headlights they yellow over time. So yours may need a polishing.

I have silverstars in mine and I have no issue with my headlights. I've never driven a vehicle with as good of a beam pattern that these suckers put out. Maybe you need to spend some quality time at night aiming your lights. I've noticed that going by the spec in the book the lights are pointed in the ditch. Bringing them up and spreading them out has made the coverage amazing. I also think that 70% of why mine are awesome are the silverstars. They put the bulb in a slightly different spot inside the headlight.

Best part about these lights is the sign kicker on the passenger side. That thing lights up road signs for miles and miles when its aimed right.

I was thinking of just finding some units from a newer model like 06-ish and trying to fit them in my 98. Anyone know if that would work?

*Item not compatible with HID system (Except HID Items)
do you think its just a disclaimer ?

what do you think about getting them and retrofitting them with projectors ?
it looks fairly straight forward. but as I havent done a retro yet I cant say for certain.

I bet they would work good after you change out the projector for a better one. Also notice that there is a high beam bulb so you will have the ability to signal flash someone without blowing your ballasts up like you would if you had bi-zenon's. But you would need to relay your headlights so low beam stays one when you switch to high beam.

At least you picked the clears and not the black ones. I think the clears look way better. Waaaaay less rice.

Im just wanting to get clear projectors, but I agree, not really into the black especially since my truck is black as it is
my headlamps are clouding up and yellowing, even after a restoration of them a little over a yr ago, I must have done something wrong, unless thats common. this just seems to be the easier way to go about getting projectors for now, until I cna afford to go the route of a retrofit.

The main reason I DONT want to retrofit is that I will loose the ability to signal flash someone. Like letting a trucker know he is clear and can come in your lane.

you can use bi-xenon's in a retrofit that will give you a hi/lo.
