Blue Headlight Mod and Black Billet Grill

Alright, so I painted my lame chrome billet grill and did the headlight mod today...i'll show off my 06 badges i did the other day too

i started off (following instructions of course) by melting the glue in the oven. I used 250 and I have no idea on time, i just checked it every minute or two to see if it would budge

then i cracked them open

then my girlfriend helped tape them up (she's a fashion student, she said it's just like draping or something) anyways, she did an awesome job and it took her like 3 minutes...seriously

ready for paint

primed

painted

and now on to my girll

i made my own "paint shop" out of a tree and some wire

and heres all my finished product shots...sorry for the picture whoring..i know you guys like pics, and i took like 15

You can see...the color is way off!!!

thats what I"m pissed about...the color is SO off, but it still looks good. I was tempted to just do black after I saw the color, but I don't know how great that would look. Opinions???

I'm going to do 06 corners too, so, I was thinking just to crack open my lights again and paint em black, either that or buy new ones and do the headlight mod in black and do 06 corners in black again.

Conclusion:

Everything was easy, but i'm mad about the color being off. I still think it looks awesome and 100 percent improvement. I can't wait for 06 corners, but the real question...black, or the color I have now. I kinda like the blue.

And I don't get it, I color-matched the paint...it looked fine on a piece of bare metal I had, but on the headlights with the cover on, it kinda changed the color a bit...I don't know, I'll give it a few days!

Anyways, IMO, I love it!!! The black grill and the headlight mod set it off...oh ya, 06 corners too baby!

I didn't notice the colours being different until you pointed it out. So I think it'll be alright with the blue. It looks good. You should put your Ford emblem on the grill, then it'd look even better. And the corners will help a lot too.

Defenitely. It's kind of plain without it, and it's blue, your truck is blue, it'd look sweet.

your truck looks to be bright island blue, not sonic blue, maybe a clue as to the color differences.

looks great though, nice start to a long list of mods to come.

Yea, my truck IS bright island blue (i hope so) and I had the paint matched by a local company (actually a friend) and it looked perfect on a scrap piece of metal, but I guess behind the lamp it changed it or something. It doesn't matter, I still like it!!! I'm going to put that emblem on right now...in 5 mins i'll post a pic

temp fix...3m trim tape.

is therre a hole in the top of the grill that you could reach behind. i cut small holes in the posts and used wire to attach the the emblem to the grill.

update: I got some bright island blue spray paint from underdog (i just ordered it) so I am going to crack apart my headlights again and re-spray them. I am going to maybe buy those 06 corners soon

edit/update: I just bought clear corners, I'm going to mod them (hopefully successfully) to bright island blue

and one question...does anyone know how to fix the chrome that came off of the headlight? I had some little chips come off, I was thinking about just putting on that chrome reflective tape, or maybe even find something similar.

I ask this b/c next time around I'm thinking about fixing all those little spots. Quite a few came off, should I just use touch up paint?

nonono! I have a better idea. I 'll trade you my unblemished headlights for you to paint, and your sonic blues will match my truck.

I'll even throw in a little something extra for your hard work :)

What say you?

I'm good, if I had a black truck, I would do them black. I see that you have some coming up mods to do, so if you need help with that, let me know.

The comp. Boston accustic's I might need help on the amp settings, because I've never used comp's before.
