whats the brightest fog light lightbulb i can use on my 06

Well I have sylvania silver in mine and they are a nice bright white light and wider, you could go a higher wattage but might run the risk of melting the housing or wiring. or you could go HID. But I have sylvania silver stars in my factory fogs, headlights and hellas, makes daylight. :biggthump

Always think about the wiring, Ford did minimum wire size on their aux lights.
55 watts is usually the largest bulb and you need to check to see if the wiring get hot, if the wiring is cool after running the 55 w bulbs, it should work for the long run but if the wiring even gets warm then consider the alternative.

You didn’t ask this but and more work, get the same size aftermarket lights to put in the OEM location.
Run new fused wiring for the power and use the OEM leads to active the new relay, also run the grounds back to the battery.

HIDs

Yeah if you really want to brighten things up, do an HID conversion and then you can run H1 bulbs or something of the like.

Not saying “HID” Lighting isn’t the brightest BUT… Fog Lighting does not require the brightest light, it is more in the aiming, they should be low to fill in the area between the lows and the truck. Doing the Fog Light Mod to leave the lights on when the highs are on is a good one and did fill in that dark space in front of the truck but too much light when the fog actually rolls in will actually cause you more hassle than a good set of 55 watt Fog Lights.

Dollar for dollar I have found the KC's or Hella’s to be the best buy and produce the light you need.

Now IF there is a 55 watt equal in an HID, that might work out for the best.

I heard they make these fog lights that are HID? My buddy has them at his off road shop and said they run about 200 a piece.

What about adding HD Harnessing to your OEM Fogs and Headlights; this will add some brightness to the front lighting by increasing the electrical path for the lights.
Then when you add the 100 watt headlights and the 65 watt Fogs your wiring will hold up and the lights will burn their brightest.

you can get a 55 watt HID set up in either a 5000K (real good and bright white)

or 55 watt HID in 3000K (yellow) and will be perfect for what your wanting

The fact is.....If you get a halogen bulb in a higher wattage (than factory) you will more than likely end up burning up wires or something along those lines. HIDs use less power (b/c they use a transformer) and would be less likely to burn anything up. And you can get HIDs alot less than $200...... I would recommend DDMtuning.com

Higher wattage bulbs without proper wiring is not good and may result in a fire.

But adding proper wiring and new bulbs will result in less money spent for the same amount of lights.

Only drawback is high wattage bulb do require more amperage.current and that sometimes takes a new alternator/battery...

If you can get HID Lighting for a good price then it might be a good idea or there are LEDs.
