I scratched mine up pretty good when I did my rockers in Monstaliner. Used the 100 or 120 grit pad that came with the kit and scuffed it all up until the clear coat was hazy and there was no shine left. The wiped it all down several times with MEK.
MAKE SURE to do an excellent job masking the lines off real straight, with QUALITY blue painters tape, other wise it will turn out like crap. Take your time and you'll be happier.
Mine has held up great so far with no flaking, peeling or chipping. I can vouch however for the duplicolor stuff: I'd probably go with something else, as I had used it on my hood and painted a bug guard/liner on with 2 cans, and it faded and peeled within a year. Not to rain on your parade or anything, but it doesn't hold up as good as other brands in my experience.
Prep makes a huge difference though....and done correctly makes for much better results. If you don't mind the sandpaper texture, and the quick fading, I found that spraying it with glossy Krylon black rattle can makes it look great after the first year goes by.
