build log: Hex Inserts-99 xlt
no, actually it doesnt.
gutter guard looks nothing like this. see picture below. that is gutter guard, I used it to protect my rad from all the bugs in the air a couple of months ago. as you can see it looks nothing like what is on my truck now.
do you mean from the inside looking out ?
or just a pic of the grill before doing anything ?

Inside looking out. It'd be awesome if you posted one. I found a place that sells hex mesh and I might be able to start doing that to my grille some time this weekend... if I have enough free time (I have three jobs. lol)
Good job, I was making those for 04-05 grilles for a while with the 1/8" thick diamond pattern mesh. How do you have the inserts staying in place? I used thin black zip ties to hold them on.
As for the gutter guard comments, you'll always have people saying it looks like that. Most people won't know the difference until they see the two materials next to each other.

no problem Al, glad to help.
John, I left tabs on either end and cut slits in the side of the grill, as seen on the first page, and I think the first set of pics. then I have a slight opposite bend in the inserts to keep pressure on them. it keeps them in place quite well.
if I go the route of the entire grill cover, Im most likely going to use the same method, but with small pinhole's around the edge, and just use a single "strand" of metal to slide into it. my main brace would be the Ford emblem.
to me, the look is totally different than the pulled mesh, mostly because the pulled mesh is more of a diamond style. for some applications I can see it being a better material. but for what I was going for, this worked perfectly. the only thing I wish differently (and I may make a change in the future) is using thicker material, this sheet is super thin, I think .025. my preference would be no less than .05, if I can find it. also, Id prefer to use aluminum and not steel, since the steel started to rust after only 24 hours, so I had to remove them and give them several coats of paint/enamel.
