Built In-bed bike rack
 

So, after getting another bike and my wife having hers, I hated taking up the entire bed of the truck by laying them on their sides. Also, that's a good way to bend spokes against pedals if you aren't paying attention. I decided to make my own rather than try to get one online somewhere.....not a fan of the pressure clamp style.

Here it is:

1 piece of bent steel about 5.5' long, or enough to reach from one bed hook to the other (the type used to make metal shelving edging)

Bolts, nuts, washers, lock washers and 2 L-brackets (galvanized steel brackets)

I ended up breaking the bed hook bolts, because they must have epoxied them in place. None the less, I drilled into the inner bed siding and installed the L-brackets and bolt/washer/lock washer/nut securely. Both sides are mounted and then the cross beam to connect them. I added a threaded rod with flat base for center support and to prevent sagging under weight of the bikes (although not much, still weight).

Purchased 2 bike traps from a local bike shop for 30$ each. All together, the entire project (with traps) ran me about $85. Not bad for something I know I built and trust the construction.
