Icon5 bed bolts

i am preping my truck to herculine it, and i am wondering about the bed bolts. i'm thinking that i want to take them out and tape off the holes in the bed. my question is, is it ok to use a pipe on my wrench on these guys? some of them are a real PITA to get out. also, is it safe to drive with some of the bolts out? i don't want to look in my rear view mirror and see my bed on the ground.

WOH WOH WOH....wait a minute. Use a T55 torx socket to remove the bed bolts. Use a breaker bar if you don't have an impact. Breaker bar meaning a piece of pipe slid onto your 1/2" ratchet....to provide more leverage.

And I would highly suggest having 4 bolts if you decide to drive it with some bolts. Definately the front two, and one set of the rear two.

ya, ya, thats what i mean. i'm using a T55 torx socket now, with a breaker bar, but i was wondering if it would be ok to slide a pipe on. i don't want to snap the bolt though.

how far do you plan to drive? mine was line-xed and all i did was move it 20 feet out of the booth and the guy re-installed them.

of course, 4 hours difference, means you are done. disregaurd....

no, i'm not done. the reason i asked is because it is raining (in the north east) and i was just going to get the bed ready today, and actually herculine tomorrow, or monday depending on the weather.

when mine was line-x'ed my step-dad worked for them so he did it and he pulled the truck in the booth and just took the bolts out there and sprayed it then put the bolts back in when he was done. i think he just stuffed something in the holes to keep the line-x out. but def. dont cover the bolts. had that on my 99' and after getting hit a couple times i started to come off. plus it just looked bad.

When I did my 1" body lift, I just took the air impact w/ the T55 torx, and buzzed them out. no problem. You're fine with the breaker bar. And I only use Craftsman, for what it's worth. lol.
