Yup. Only for the summer/fall I guess. Will only take me 10-15 minutes to put them back on thankfully. Here's the pics of what it looks like now. Give me some honest opinions. I think it looks alot better than the major contraption I put together from the hitch.

I've had the basket on there for a little over a year now. It's made by con-ferr. I just took the kc lights off the rack to make room for the kayaks :)

I can take the mounts off and mount the kayak upright but on it's side is the best way to transport a kayak, no real stress on the hull that way.

It's prolly about 9 feet ish. No taller than a lifted f-250 or a mini van with bikes on the top. I could have put them in the bed, but for long hauls with camping gear or anything like that I want unrestricted access to my tonnuea cover.

Well, the lights aren't gone for good. Not by far. It's just so much easier to get out kayaking with the whole rack to use and I've used the rack lights a handful of times usefully since they were installed. So it's more of a functionality thing.

that rack looks nice on there, I didn't think any one made them for out trucks.

Was that made for it, or is it a custom fit?

I think it is MUCH better Lefty....
Are you going to get a set of brackets for Jenn's vessel?

We missed you at Wharton this weekend - not much carnage
Camping was a blast, but the campsite was a bit of a joke
In about two months we plan to go back and camp at Atsion Lake

Definately cleaner looking.
Is it possible to mount with the "cockpit" facing down? or is that bad too? just curious

I'll be down for an atsion camping / kayaking trip bro. I had to work this weekend so I couldn't make it to Wharton. Good ole uncle sam gets me once a month and that was his 2 days hehe. I just hope the next meet doesn't fall on drill weekend too. I'm not going to get the same j style for jenn's, her's is too wide. Instead I'm getting the type that will have her's lay on it's bottom.

Was the receiver hitch mounted support not working out too well or something?

Last week I went to Maine w/ two boats on my cheap-*** rack. Worked out pretty well. I have photos.. I should post'em..

The rack that I made could support another car, well not really but it's stupid strong. The thing is, it's a pain in the *** to lug it out of the closet, attach it, tie it down and have to undo everything when I'm done on the water. Plus, I lose my hitch when I have it like that and say if I'm going camping, kayaking, and taking the boat, well, I can't tow the boat with that rack. Now with the mounts on the rack itself, I drop the kayak down from it's sling, toss it on the truck and go.
