my poor red ranger is loosing the clear coat in some small areas around the edges of my passenger door where it had been repainted...any dos and donts about slowing down the process?

also, whoever owned the truck before me spilled something (paint maybe?)onto the back bumper...and there are light grey/white streaks where it should be black...any ideas of how to get it off or cover it up?

How old is ur Ranger it shouldnt be losing clear coat unless who ever painted it didnt really know how to paint. As for stopping/slowing the process down I know ive seen Clear Coat Conditioners / Protectants at like AutoZone that should really help slow the process down also a good waxing on a regular basis should help too. As for the streaks on ur bumper get like some paint thiner (im assuming the bumper is plastic) and go over it that should take the streaks off it is actually paint that is on it

as far as the clear coat goes- my truck is a 2000- so i almost cried when i saw the clear coat coming off, whoever repainted it needs to be shot...or at least yelled at.

 

be very careful if you're going to use paint thinner!

 

I'll shoot someone for ya, buts its prolly cheaper to get it repainted..with the plane tickets and Me having to get a new gun...Yah I vote ya get it repainted!

haha- yeah, if it gets that bad i will...i have plans for the paint job though- when that time comes, my babys gettin paint like the general lee. yes i know, it will be amazing.

 

Hey uhh since I'm assuming you watch Dukes of Hazzard I have a question for ya. Some friends and I noticed yesterday that all their last names are "Duke" yet Luke Duke and Daisy Duke are Gf/Bf? Is there incest goin on, because I'm afraid to watch the next episode on CMT..

I don't recall them being boyfriend and girlfriend in any episode... Been a long time since I've watched it, other than the occasional rogue episode I catch...

 

emily there isnt much you can do to save the clearcoat, once it starts coming up, you get an edge on it and it iwll just start peeling more and more. we can try to wet sand the edge down so it wont peel as easily, and i can talk to someone and get you a good deal on some fresh clearcoat. the problem with clearcoat is, if you leave any kind of edge, it will peel. id bed when your truck was painted they didnt even open the door, so the clearcoat ends at the edge of your door, which is a very BAD place to end it.

 

from what i understood they were all close cousins that got into trouble all the time...they never were BF/GF
