FX4 Expedition???

On the way home from work today I saw probably an 03 Expedition and on the rear door on the pass. side was an FX4 emblem. This was not a sticker it was a metal emblem maybe two inches tall and four inches wide, silver trimmed and red inlay. It looked awesome!! I didn't think Ford ever offered that on an Expedition, it really had no standout 'off-road' features to it. Has anyone ever seen one or possibly know how to get one of those badges? I stopped in at the dealer and asked the parts guy about it and he looked at me like I had a second head growing on my shoulder.

there is an under-advertised FX4 package for the expedition, as far as i know it inludes no special badging. the easiest way to tell is it has black headlights. the emblem could very well have been aftermarket, but if i get a chance ill check with my parts girl at ford here and see what she can find

I'm guessing it was probably an 02 or 03 because the front of the hood and fenders were more rounded and not as squared off as the new ones. Bob, it looked like it came stock on the truck, as it didn't appear to have any mods at all. If you can find anything out about it I would appreciate it, I think that would look great on my tailgate.

The black headlights are on another Expedition, it might be called the Limited, I can't quite remember. If I remember tomorrow, I'll wander out on the lot and see if theres one hiding.

I too have seen the small FX4 badge on an Expedition.

Finally found a picture of the badge, also learned the FX4 was a real option for the Expedition. Ford is still making them, but has changed the name to the NBX package. If anyone can find out where to get one of these emblems(just the FX4 part) I would GREATLY appreciate it, I have been searching for the past 2 hours and can't find anything.

I bought a badge for the Ranger Level II I had, but I wanted another one and couldn't find one. I sold the emblem to someone on GE that lived near me. I was going to replace the "Ranger" on the fender with that FX4 Emblem. It's a rather nice size as well.

They have them, but I remember being quoted either $15 or $55. I can't remember, but I passed on it, easily. I don't mind spending money to make my ride look different -- but that was too much. I am leaning toward the $55. I found mine on eBay, actually.

I tried ebay, found every kind of FX4 logo except what I wanted. I'll go back to the dealer and try again now that I have a picture of what exactly I'm talking about. Thanks for all the info.

Ok, stopped by the dealer again, showed them the picture and explained that the Expedition FX4 really does exist and finally got somewhere with this. Part # is: 2L1Z-7842528-ABB. They quoted me $51.04 which I passed on, found it on fordpartscheap.com for $29.00. I'll be putting my order in hopefully by the weekend.

$29.00, not bad, but still too much for an emblem for my taste and budget. That's almost a Steak and Lobster dinner!

On the current (04/05) Expedition, the black headlights come on the "Limited" model. I put a factory Sirius kit in one this morning. They look slick in all-black.

My dad had a diesel excursion for a while. Thats actually the car I learned to drive on. I always found that truck a lil heavy to really go offroad with. But everyone stayed outta my way on the highway!!!!

^^^sho nuff. my mom went from the excursion to an 03 mustang gt and she still uses the excursion braking tactics in her 05 gt. i complain cuz shes always on the brakes but she always says its cuz she was afraid to run anybody over in the excursion.

yeah, we have an 03 expedition and it has disc brakes all around, but we go through brakes pads like crazy. those cars are pretty heavy, but with the 5.4 V8, it takes off pretty darn quick. you seriously gotta pay attention in big cars like the excursion/expedition cuz of their sheer size.

you have to be very careful with ford vehicles that say FX4 these days. Being that I work for ford and i've been ford family for more than 10 years I can tell you that Ford got a little crazy with that package after the first F-150 FX4 came out. They sold like crazy, so then came the Ranger. After that they altered the FX4 package on the F-Series. So much so that if you did not know what you were looking at you would end up buying an FX-4 sticker on a base F-150. Rangers, so far, have been the only vehicle that can not be bought as a special package that can be altered. By that I mean if you go to buy and FX-4 Ranger you can not change the shocks that you are getting, whereas with the F-150 you can get an "economy" package with factory shocks. As most of you know the FX-4 package was originally introduced with a heavier set of springs and RANCHO Shocks, which soon there after were replaced by Bilstein. So, if you want to know quickly if you have a true FX-4 package look at your shocks and see if you have bilstein. I know that are a few other options that are exclusive. But the shocks are your undisputable sign. And to add to this topic....The FX-4 package can be purchased for all of fords 4WD vehicles with the exception of E-Series, and F-Series beyond F-350.
