Hello Everyone,

I'm getting tired of my black headlights w/ hid's 8k and the scattered beam pattern. I want my truck to be unique and i think this is the perfect opportunity to do so considering very few people have done this. I need someone with experience in doing this type of retrofit to give me some good insight of what i need.

The kit i have been seriously looking at would be this one: Bi-xenon Morimoto Mini Stage III Kit - Complete Kits from The Retrofit Source LLC

Its not the most ideal kit, considering i really want those ds2 bulbs versus these H1's but ill do what i have to. Loooking forward for some answers

looks like a quality kit imo. if that pic is the actual beam pattern it has, that is a great looking cutoff.

makes me wanna mod my fx45 projectors to get a better cutoff like that.

 

Yeah just wondering if the kit price seemed good to you considering you purchased a kit of some kind, I'm guessing. Overall i feel like it's a quality kit and I'm probably going to purchase it. The cut off does look way nice, I hope that's how it turns out

Just came across that kit. They are angel eyes which I'm not too
sure about but they come at and good price and look like quality projectors. They are also very small ( 13 x 8 cm )

Those are what I use, and the cutoff is superb, very high quality - and the difference is that they also have a High beam toggle inside the lens.. and a high beam on projectors is sexay

 

Well.. That's good to know. I purchased the projos from the retrofit source ( first link I posted ) they are $100 more but I think its a very high quality kit. The angel eye projectors look awesome too im just not fond of that style. I'll be keeping this thread updated with pics of my retrofit..

Projector retrofit parts that use D2S?

...and they fit inside of our headlights (not too long)

...and they mount with a nut that screws onto the back of the projector? (instead of having to fabricate a mount)

 

Yep, very easy to mod in - it uses the standard 9007 mounting with a nice steel housing and a large nut that tightens it down, and the entire unit is covered with a nice dust boot after you run all the wiring.

 

Standard 9007 mounting but what kind of bulb? - I have some spare D2S bulbs laying around (factory D2S that came on my IX) and I tried to fit them into a spare pair of ranger headlights I have: The base of the D2S are too big to fit even in the naked hole of the Ranger headlight with no projector inside of there.

I am very interested in which kind of bulb your projector uses, and what you would do if a bulb died. Replacability is the only concern I have.

 

In my understanding the morimoto mini kit is a kit that is designed to just screw into the base of where your factory bulb goes - however in looking at andrew's thread - you cut a hole and fastened the projector housing to the stock headlight housing with adhesive. Was this done because the morimoto projectors were too long and you needed to cut to have the room? Sounds like defeating the purpose of buying a "bolt in" projector kit?

 

^^I'm wondering the same for this one. I'm looking for a good projector upgrade, as I am tired of the scattered beam HID as well, but I really am not looking forward to cutting into my stock headlights.

My question is, how did the upgrade work out for you? Were they really just plug and play, and, if so, how exactly did it work? I just don't see how you can fit an entire projector assembly in there without some hacking.
