Demudflappication

Totally made up word but whatever. So what do yall think? Is taking off the mud flaps a good idea?I like the idea myself. I am just worried about crap flying up and messing up the paint.

I pulled mine off and I couldn't be happier. I hear rocks hitting my truck all the time but it doesn't hurt anything. No chips or anything yet.

Do it, I'm so glad I took mine off, it looks a lot better.

Crap is gonna get on your truck anyway.

This is true. I mean hell it is a truck it is gonna get dirty. Alright after finals are over, no more flaps. Thanks for the input. Yeah it looks like some kind of an optical allusion now. With those flaps it looks like it sits lower than Rangers without them.

its all personal preference.
personally, I liked mine, but they dont work with my flares.
and they did save the paint on the side of my truck once (or I should say they helped) when I had a tire disintegrate, because of the flaps it kept most of the debris from hitting the truck itself. but destroyed the flap on that side.

I think that if a truck has its stock wheels then they don't look bad. If it has after market bigger wider tires. Take em off. That's the way I see it.

Yeah man, I have the ones with the push pins too. They are really not that hard to get off. See I have aftermarket fender flares on my truck, and I had to take them off to get the fender flares on. Tomorrow, when I take my flaps off, I plan on just putting the pin back into the place where it came out. That way I don't have a random hole in my fender flare lol. I'll get back on here tomorrow and tell ya how it turns out.

Interested to see how that works, mine have the pushpins and I'm not sure how I feel about taking them off.

Alright, get ya a good ratchet or small power drill would be better and attach a 7 or 8mm head to it. You can take those screws right of with ease by turning your steering wheel the right way. As for the push pins, I saved them for last. I took a pretty long handle screw driver and wrapped the medal in tape to prevent scratches. (however a plastic stick or putty knife deal would probably do better as long as it is skinny and flat like a screw driver.) I slowed pried the push pin out by alternating sides of approach angle to prevent from breaking it off. They came out pretty easily. Then take the mudflap off and re-push those pins back in and it looks so much better than it did. Of course I have after market black fender flares so the black push pins matched really well and looks stock. However looking at the truck now, it gives it whole different attitude. Now I do not have to worry about taking a off a mudflap like about did this past weekend and rip off fiberglass or other screws or something lol. So end result: time of work 30 minutes with proper tools and patience in order not break the push pins. Looks way better with out them in my opinion. I can see more than half my tire tread in the back end now compared to only 6 or so inches when the flaps were on there. Ha I can see the rooster tails now from all the mud.
