Just bought this toolbox (mounted pics added)

I'm tired of my plastic box. I had to put something under it to keep it from sagging. I bought this from a fellow right down the road from me, on eBay -- what a coincidence. Saves shipping for sure and he wouldn't have shipped anyway.

Here's the auction link. I jumped on it for the price since it's in great shape and I can't get new for close to that.

It was sagging in general, Matt. I built a platform out of wood that sits between the bed and the box to hold it up. Pretty hokey but it worked.
It hasn't sagged anymore because of that, even with the high lift -- but this one leaks around the seals pretty bad. What do you want for $60? I'm hoping the aluminum box is a bit tighter. I'll see if I can mount the highlift to it as well.
Nice to know thay hold up. It'll look nice with the new wheels as well. I don't have many "bright" accents on my truck, but with the wheels and the box it will look well integrated, I think.

Thanks.
I agree about mounting the jack, Neil -- I just don't know how strong the walls are. I can always use a backing plate. The hi-lift is on the "Loc-Rac" system from Hi-Lift for that jack. I'd like to put it back on the box like that -- it's moderately secure, and very convenient. I"m sure this box is rigid enough for it.
Anyone out near me need a plastic tool box cheap? It's still useable and better than nothing.

had a plastic tool box for about 2 yrs and it sagged so bad and leaked...granted i had a 2 1/4 ton floor jack in there with lots of tools and the box was a hand me down from my dad.
i got my new DeeZee diamond plate toolbox for $50 used, all it took was some cleaning and its like new. they dont leak, dont sag and can fit way more then those plastic ones. i love it.
on sarahs ranger i used the mounting kit from Bully (i think thats who). it had 2 plastic blocks that bolt together and clip under the lip of the bed rail. u do have to drill 2 holes in the tool box to mount the one plastic block but thats all the drilling. my dad has them on his truck also and they work great.

Well, here's pictures of it mounted. I wasn't happy with it at first because it is a higher box than the old one -- but it's grown on me just since Friday when I mounted it. It's a very nice box, very roomy, and there is no center partitions so the Hi-Lift jack fits inside quite neatly. In fact, wth that and everything else that was in the other box and MORE, I still have room left.
In fact, it mountes higher, and there is much more room UNDER it than with the old box. I can actually slide my spare under there when I want to, or carry something longer (but not too tall) more easily then before.
Overall, looks great with the new wheels (which I have now put the one piece chromed lugnuts on).
Very happy with it! :)

Wow, diamond plate skid plate sounds nice -- only I'll screw it up first time I hit the quarry, lol!
Thanks all.
It is a t-bar crank. That's about 6 full turns total (if I remember correctly, it may be slightly more) on each side, for maybe a inch to an inch and a half. I'll be probably cranking it a little more and putting up with the lousy ride when I add the lifting shackles to the back and take the back up another inch or so. Every little bit helps! :)

All nice ideas I haven't thought of -- I'll consider that. I am going to make a better skid plate, and maybe I'll incorporate something to host that diamond plate wrap around. It would complement the toolbox nicely.
I didn't want the bright aluminum box before because there was nothing else bright on my truck -- even the stock aluminum wheels are painted. But with the M/T's on, bright aluminum diamond plate is a possibility.
Thanks for the ideas! :)

Re: LeftofEDGE accident mod.....what's in your wallet?
Great, thanks! However, Tom Barcia is pretty good now, and I have a passle of millwrights at work that can fab things for me if I need them. One owes me and is going to help me make my skidplate. I have to get the dimensions off the truck and send them to Djaye, though. He asked me for them 2 weeks ago and I keep forgetting.

Shiiiineee! Sweet!
Slightly OT: Is it my monitor, or are those pix kinda dark? Did you monkey w/ 'em John?! I ask 'cause I've got this friend at work that likes to post his pictures on his PC which has one of those new LCD monitors. It's bright as hell and he ALWAYS ends up w/ pix that are too dark on everything else! Even the color calibrated monitors the graphics guys have..
