factory nerf install?
I just bought a set of used factory nerf bars. They did not come with any instructions. i searched and found they apparently mount to the body mounts. Question is, do I need to remove the body mount? Do I need to loosen nut and lift up, wedging them between? I just cant find a simple step by step explanation. I have any tool I will need. I just need to know if I need to seperate the body from the spacer to mount so I can get more guys if needed. I have a 99 4dr supercab with a 3" bodylift.

if they are like mine they mount directly to the cab not to the body mounts... you have any pictures of what you have?

I dont have any pics. The mounts are large almost L shaped brackets. They have a brace that looks like it hooks around something then bolts back into place. I will try to find pics of the mounts.

Hope these work. This is the brackets.

Anyone? Any guesses? I climbed under there today on lunch break, couldn't find any holes or obvious place to mount them.

If no one posts any pics tonight I will take some tomorrow for you.

I appreciate it. For some reason I cant get an answer on this. I climbed under a ranger today. Some random one at the store. They bolt to the frame and the brackets are nothing like mine. They must have been aftermarket. I am taking a flashlight to Walmart tonight, I'll find out 1 way or another.

OK. I got some info. (from an s-10 forum). The guy's brother drives a Ranger. Apparently the rear mount hangs off a body mount, and the front one hangs from the cab itself. I will have to drill holes to line up the front mount but it appears to look promising. I am planning to put them on this weekend. I will get some pics up for future "searches".

I got them mounted up. I ran to walmart real quick and came across a 2000 4dr supercab with the factory nerf's. I climbed under real quick and ran right home to try it. (Now I have to go back to walmart to get what I was suppose to the first time ) Anyway. They do not bolt to the frame in any way. The front bracket bolts right were the front mud flaps bolt too. You actually need to remove the mud flaps to bolt the bracket on. ( Then of course you could put the mud flap back on over the nerf bracket. The rear bracket bolts to the cab as well. There were no pre-drilled holes for them, however, there is a cut-out in the actual rocker panel. The bracket slips in and rests on this cut-out. You then drill the holes and add the bolts to secure. Took about an hour to do once I figured it out. I was way off my original guess. I thought the rear bracket hung off the rear body mount. O well. There on now, and they look good. I will get pics when it's light out.
