Bed Liner vs. Spray Paint vs. Krylon Fusion

Im gonna paint my front chrome bumper, lower plastic valence, plastic grill, rear chrome bumper, plastic on the rear, and factory fender flares. What would you guys recommend for painting everything. The paint i am thinking or buying is.

Rustoleum Aerosol Bed liner (Black)
Rustoleum Semi-Gloss (Black)
Krylon Fusion (Black)

So basically Im three questions
1. What paint would everybody recommend for the metal parts?
2. Paint Recommended for the plastic?
3. Should I prime or not, is it really necessary or does it depend on my paint?

Id just really not have 3 different kinds of paint on it, Id rather use the least as possible. Thanks Forum!

if you use bedliner, at least get a good roll on product, it will be much better, and most spray on stuff (aerosol cans) will fade after a bit of sitting in the sun.

krylon fusion works great as well tho.

Can't go wrong with Krylon Fusion. I suck at painting and never prep but it always comes out nearly perfect!

For the bedliner I like the Duplicolor stuff in the aerosol can. Easy to use and looks great!

You can paint chrome with good results. You have to get a grinder with a flapper disc blade on it and scuff it all up until it no longer is shiny. Then you have to, and I mean have to paint it with "self etching primer" by duplicolor or rustoleum. Its a green colored primer.

Then paint it with rattle can of your choice.

That is the only way paint will stick to chrome. If you skip the self etching primer, the paint will peel off and flake within a month.

I say Krylon Fusion everything. Cheap.

Before you paint the chrome, AT LEAST scuff it up. If you can, get a wire brush on a power drill or something and scuff the snot out of the chrome........Get it down to the bare metal if you can (just dont breath the dust) You want no shiny surface before you paint.

Get a grease and wax remover if you can. Many brands make a good spray on cleaner.

Krylon Fusion WINS. This stuff works well on metal and plastic.

Ah, forgot the self etching primer. Its a must for a smooth finish.

Fusion no doubt.

HOWEVER i did use a spray on bedliner in my wheel wells and leafs and frame and its not super rough to the touch but gives a nice mean look. idk.

for just black painting fusion wins every time.

Chrome is a big problem, sand blast it, etching primer, paint… might work !
Plastic use an Adhesion Promoter, then paint.
Fusion may have an adhesion promoter built in.

I did all my stuff with the dupli color and it came out better than I expected. Even on wheels the stuff looks good.

i don't know if krylon fusion would be good for that considering its a solely plastic paint....but ive never tried it on anything other than plastic so I can't say for sure. get that plasti-dip stuff. ive heard its great for chrome bumpers
