mounting lights on fiber glass

well my question is has anyone with a fiberglass camper top mounted lights on the cap by drilling and mounting on the fiberglass. im asking becasue i just got a camper top for my stepside and since they dont really make a roof rack for it i was tossing the idea around about doing it that way.

i dont know too much about this, but if i were to do it I would make sure it is reinforced on a good area on either side of the glass. Like some big washers on both the inside and outside

Or go to home depot and get a section of steel flat bar. Say 2 inches wide, and as long as how many lights your going to run. That way you spread the load out across the entire bottom side, while you have large washers on the top under the lights.

Should be fine with that.

I'd use some sort of sealant on the inside to keep water out or a rubber washer of some kind.

That's a pretty sweet idea

I'd like to do somethin like that for my cap, but those light bars are nice cuz you can turn them down easy if you need the clearence, that looks cleaner tho!
