Loc Rac Owners Please Read (Pics)

Well I just installed my high lift jack in the bed of the truck, along the passenger side above the wheel well. I used the LocRac that Hi-Lift makes and I think it turned out pretty well...

The problem is when I hit huge bumps or really bumpy roads, the jack comes out of the smaller bracket. You can see in the photo the small bracket the holds the base of the jack from falling but does nothing to keep it from moving upward.

Maybe I installed it wrong, as the package came with no instructions. How are you guys keeping your high lift secure?

I can get pics of my install if I need too.

I used the same mount on my Cherokee roof rack with no problems. Post a pic. of how you mounted it and I may be able to help.

Did you try bending the bracket a bit so it actually "pinches" the jack in?

it is falling out because that little tab should be hooked into one of the holes in the base of the highlift.

edit: also you should have the jack go through the stud and then screw it down and lock it.

Also, you're not using a real HiLift jack. Your holes are not the same as the ones on the base of the HiLift.

When the jack is mounted, as Chad indicated, the tab goes into a tapered hole that results in the jack being "locked" in place.

I'm not sure you're going to get it to work right with the imitation jack.

John that is a generic highlift that Tractor Supply sells, I think he may have to drill a new hole in the base to get it to work right.

Yes, I recognized it (I LOVE Tractor Supply, lol) -- but I don't think HiLift actually makes it? Could be wrong about that though.

Im not going to try and quote all of you all cause you are all right!

Yes its from tractor supply, went back outside and the holes are too small.

edit: also you should have the jack go through the stud and then screw it down and lock it.
When i do that the handle is separated from the (holy part?)lol. Resulting in the handle rattling.
Yes they(crooks) could actually just lift the base off and slide it out but im counting on most people will see the lock on there and leave well enough alone.

Dang you guys are quick to solve problems, i posted on TRS at the same time and have not gotten one reply. I appreciate all your help!

no problem.

If one of the holes lines up then you can just drill it out a little bit so it fits. Also if you think about it that lock is not going to stop anyone.

To solve the rattle I used a small piece of foam rubber and glued it where the handle sets.

I have a LocRac but I'm not using it as the spare tire carrier I got has a mount (thanks, Carl!) I think I promised my Loc' to TBarCYa as I recall.
