Ford GT Rocker Strip?
 

i know there is a thread out there talking about these but im sick of waiting 30 seconds after each search.

my truck got absolutely raped this winter from the salt, the base of my doors is starting to rust on the exterior and my tailgate is doing the same. what i want to do is to sand down the rust, bondo it and then seal it with primer but i dont want to have to get my doors repainted. So i want to get a set of vinyl stripes that similar to the Ford GTs and throw them on there to hide the repair work. I know ebay has them but i cant for the life of me find the seller any more. They had some decent looking plain ones with out any words which would be the ones i would get.

So firstly does anyone have the link to that ebay page saved or something because i have no idea what it would be called when i tried to search for it.

Second, i have a green truck, and nothing goes with green. So any ideas about what color would look good would be appreciated.

I don't know about the racing stripes, but painting with just primer, you will have more rust in a very short while, putting vinyl stripes on it will worsen the the rerusting.
Buy a spray can and repaint then buff to blend. You sure your not rusting from inside of the door? Get some rust killler primer also.

yeah its mostly on the inside of my door, but its starting to make its way around to the exterior so i want to stop it before it gets even worse.

i plan on using por15 which is "guaranteed" to stop rust so if it does what they claim, id be set even with the vinyl strip. the strip is just to cover up the new paint where i patch up the rust, not the racing strip down the hood

Get a wire wheel on a grinder, clean up all your rust, fix it how you like, POR it, then if you're set on strips, I'd get some tan or light gold ones to match your truck. You could also paint the whole portion under that lowest body line with color matched Line X or bedliner. I've seen it color matched and it looks good.

my 98's passenger door is doing the same making the progress from the bottom fo the door to the side. Have a rust strip about 6 inches long.

Ya know.. if you do decide to jsut cover it up (Which I might advise against) I think a straight black gloss would look well on your truck, very few colors match with green well.. unless your lookign at the older cars and decide to do a wood panel look to it ;)
