Hood/engine Light

Hood/engine Light
I just filled up my windshield washer and decided to post up one of my favorite mods.
One of the things I wanted on my truck was a hood light to light up the engine bay.
First I bought a hood light from a really old ranger at the junk yard but it was completely rotted and unusable. So I bought some flex LED lights
Install was very simple just removed the shield under the hood and zip tied the lights to the shield running the wiring behind and coming out at the hood strut with a tilt switch to turn on when the hood is raised.
Everything is wired in pretty cleanly and I like how the install looks and wow is there ever a lot of light. Makes me happy that the first light was rotted and I went this way. No more darkness for anything under the hood from adding windshield washer to doing or a mood.
This pic is from an iphone 3 which suck at low light photos... crazy amount of light :)

The tilt switch was in a hood light a bought that was corroded / ruined so I took it apart and used the piece that is the tilt switch the silver piece in the middle.

I've had mine in for about a year and a half including two winters. Lights are still working perfectly and been used in -30c (-22f) in the winter and summer stuck in grid lock at a stand still in 33c (92f) with bright sun heating the black hood plus really humid and no problems at all. Great lights :)
