My tailgate assembly needs to be rebuilt, but most tailgates have screws that allow you to remove an access panel. My tailgate has no such panel. How do i rebuild it, when i cant get to the inside workings?

Ranger's have the same access panel on tailgates as any other truck

If you have a bed liner then there will be a cover over tailgate that has to be removed to see the access panel

 

92 and older don't have that panel

 

awe, thanks! That explains why mine doesn't have it. Should make rebuilding the internals.... challenging, lol

 

Well live and learn..........................how the heck do you change the internals?
And how the heck did they assemble them at the factory?

 

My guess is the gate is assembled with all the components and then skinned over with the handle being the last component added. Or the gate handle is a part of the assembly, and the gate outer skin slips over it.
