gt500kr hood

since its winter and im bored, i thought about attempting to alter a regular hood and mold a shelby 500 hood and cut open my stock one and make it a semi-functional ram air hood. it might not come out looking the best, but does anyone think its a good/bad idea?

If you can make it work I think the overall design would look pretty cool on Ranger.

Look for a hood scoop kit. you pretty much pick your spot and put it on your hood and you can cut out the bottom to match. I did it on a old style Dakota with a 05-09 mustang GT scoop.

I think redneckstone did this(albeit a different way).

I dunno..my opinion of them is basically that you don't have the engine, so you don't wanna act like you're the toughest **** on the block with big hood scoops.

I don't have the 4wd or the leather interior but I have a lift and aggressive tires and projectors with halos lol I get where your coming from but I'm mostly about looking nice. Can I find scoops that look like the hood if I put 2 side by side and fiberglass them together? I bet I sound like a complete hillbilly to you guys

I would go for it if it could possibly functional. But like you're saying too, it would look pretty sweet functional or not functional!

And don't worry about feeling that your ideas are hillbillish. I'm from TN; we have rednecks and yes everybody has at least a little bit of it in them down here lol.

I have seen this done a couple of times with the black plastic scoop of the GT500. You can order that part directly from the dealership then cut out the hole you need to drop the scoop in. The scoop is pretty darn wide but you can trim out the center section in order to get the size right for a Ranger. Doesn't seem like it would be very difficult. The hardest part would be the placement on the hood so that the scoop is actually in the low air pressure section and will pull heat from the engine compartment.

Its not a stick on, its the actually plastic air damn that comes on the GT500. You would have to cut out the pattern on your hood for the scoop to drop into.

could you find a partnumber or picture for me? im trying to visualize it but im having trouble.

so what your saying is that i cut a whole in my hood, and the scoop is inserted from underneath and secured? and it will just be the center raised section right?
