Headlight mod

Headlight mod
I was wanting to ask a couple questions about the headlight mod.
I cant seem to find any pictures showing how to pull it apart. Do you just heat it then stick a screw driver in there. Prying it apart.
What is the best silicone to use. Will water proof silicone work better then any other kind?
Do you need to set something on top of the lens to compress it back onto the housing as it dries?

if you use a screwdriver, be very careful and take you sweet time, otherwise you risk breaking/cracking the lens.
I would not use silicone, the substance that is already in place should be able to be used again, depending on what you do while its apart and how well you take care of the pieces.
the glue they use is far and away sticky enough that once you put it back together, its locked tight.
(this is going by my experience with a mazda mx6 HL mod, not a ford ranger HL mod)

Yeah you pretty much just carefully pry it apart with a screw driver working your way around the housing. The glue that Ford uses hardens in a couple minutes once you take it out of the oven so you may need to work a section then throw it back in the oven to re-soften the glue and keep working your way around. One side of mine took a while and was a pain and the other practically fell apart. I used clear silicone meant for sealing windshields and haven't had any problems with condensation. Use rubber bands or small c-clamps to compress the headlight while the silicone dries overnight.

I don't see how that would work.

like I said, I was going by the HL mod for a mazda mx6. the glue they use seems to be more of a tar that a glue.
another trick to use while your working the lens apart, is keep a hair dryer on it (not real close, just enough to keep it warmed up, not blistering hot) this will keep the glue malleable longer and you may not need to put it back in the oven.
or if you have access to a heat gun you could use that, but be careful with a heat gun as it can over heat very quickly, which can damage the lens/casing.
