I want to get some 06 corners but I cant decide if I want to do the headlight mod to them or if I should just keep them and my headlights unpainted. What are your thoughts on this? Also if you dont mind, post up some pictures of painted and un-painted 06 corners.

 

Don't paint them, One sec I'll grab a pic of mine, almost like your truck. My grille is chrome though.

I say yes, white with black accents looks hot! Then BL and 33" KM2s and you can be a mini brianjwilson!

 

Here are pics of the stock and modified 06 corners. I just followed the headlight mod instructions here, being careful not to pry too hard. I had to heat them twice for 10 minutes at 190F to get them to fully separate. The background and the rim of the clear lens were then painted satin black before reassembly.

You can skip painting the rim if you want but it leaves a whitish halo effect that looks different from the headlights.

Ha! I love my 06 corners. Clear corners are just... too clear for me, and solid ambers are fugly. 06's are just right. I didn't paint mine, but everything on the front of my truck is chrome, they fit.

If you do paint them do the valence and fender mouldings black also. Actually, go ahead and paint the valence and mouldings black anyway, looks so much better than grey.

 

Hmm....I see Bob has the cool little overspray marks on the clear part of the lense just like I have!! Same spot too!!

 

LOL Well I have fx4 wheels and I'll be getting some Terra Grapplers soon to put on them. 33x11.50's! Then around next spring I'll paint my flares and valance then I'll a Brian look-a-like ahaha

 

Hmm... Im thinking some new corners are going to have to be ordered here pretty soon. Shane, your truck looks amazing with modded headlights. Dont you just have regular headlights/corners now?

 

Yes...but I'm teasing my new corners....infact, the other sides lense is drying right next to me as I type.

I've had modded lamps for a few years now, but about a month ago, the little dome over the bulb fell out of one of mine...so I'm redoing the headlamps...bothsides, sanding, buffing the lenses to get rid of the haize, they'll look good as new.

 

Now to you original question......The problem: white takes so well to chrome and black mods. It's a toss up. If it were me, I'd get a set of 06's and leave 'em chrome. Then I'd also get a set of Ebay pre-modded lamps and mod another set of '06 corners...that way you have options.

 

That isn't overspray. It's a dimple molded into the plastic. They all have it.

 

Lense, bottom right corner(would be bottom front if on the truck)... Or is that really a drilled hole on the lense??

I dont really have the money for that. Its either get 06's and black them and my heads out or get 06's and leave em be. Im thinkin about doing the headlight mod to them though. I look at Mikes truck when I want front end inspiration.

i am going to bust open my corners and paint the non reflecting inside black. when i get bored enough
